     About the Author

Ben received Bachelor's and Master's degrees in engineering from the University of Waterloo, Ontario and has worked as a consulting

engineer on such projects as controls for large telescopes and test equipment for the CanadArm. He holds patents for numerous

innovations involving the recycling of used tires into fence boards and a novel ground coil arrangement for geothermal heat pumps.

Ben's interest in the current topics and his background reading and research span several decades and have culminated in what he

purports to be credible theories of the Earth. His approach is the systems engineering approach wherein all of the relevant evidence is

recognized and accommodated. This is particularly evident throughout his discussion of the Great Ice Age where the necessity to have

both heat and cold is recognized - not only to actually have the Ice Age but to retain the absolutely-necessary Greenhouse Effect without

which life on Earth would not be possible. While there has been an abundance of theories of the Earth in recent years, none of them have

recognized the Greenhouse Effect and hence have little credibility. In fact the Ice Age alone boosts more than sixty theories but not a single

one of them recognize the Greenhouse Effect. Further, the truth of Holy Writ is recognized throughout all of his writing and shown to be in

full accord with science  (nature) .

It is his hope that these observations, opinions and conclusions will be helpful to many in their own investigations and search for truth .

                The Window of Life

A Theory of the Earth Based on Asteroid Impact

by Ben Tripp, M.A.Sc., P. Eng.

     About this book;

The set of circumstances which enables life to exist is compared

to a multi-layered window wherein each pane is a life-limiting

factor. If even one pane shifts too far in any direction, life would

cease to exist. Drawing on his knowledge of physics and an

extensive review of scientific literature and physical evidence,

the author hypothesizes multiple asteroid impact as the catastro-

phic event which closed the "Window of Life", ushered in the

great Ice Age and produced many of the physical characteristics

and phenomena of our Earth and near universe which are not

    otherwise properly explained.

The chaos discussed herein has been described by Immanuel

Velikovsky in his 1950's book entitled 'Earth in Upheaval'.

Velikovsky understood that the major planets - possibly Mars and

Venus - as well as certain comets were responsible for the dis-

ruption on Earth. This present work puts the blame on a swarm

of minor planets (asteroids) instead. This position is easier to

defend because there is no doubt that the Earth has been

pummeled by numerous asteroids, several of which would have

caused unthinkable chaos, a world-wide flood and a mass

    extinction.

        The Flow of Thought

     1.   Several currently popular notions of how nature operates are refuted, in particular the idea that an ice age would happen if the Earth became

chilled is shown to be contrary to basic physics and our knowledge of greenhouse gases.

     2.   Life's enabling criteria are numerous, complex and simultaneously necessary. Several of these criteria (Windows of Life) are discussed.

     3.   Trouble did come! The Earth was pummeled by an asteroid shower which totally disrupted most life-enabling factors.

     4.   The great Ice Age developed. The absolutely necessary conditions for an ice age are spelled out and it is pointed out that the asteroid impact

event would have generated these conditions.

     5.   How did anything survive? The literature is void of any survival discussion with only two previous exceptions. Now a third one has been added.

The Great Genesis Flood was a violent chaotic affair; All land-based animals died and the Earth was subsequently 'remade'. There is substantial scientific evidence for the physical events which produced and resulted from The Flood, but there are also aspects of the scriptural account which are clearly miraculous in nature. - perhaps most notably the 120-year warning and the gathering of the animals and their management in the Ark.

The author explores these and other questions such as; how did the Ark survive the chaotic water movement? How did the creatures inside the Ark survive the darkness, cold and contaminated atmosphere? How did they avoid and survive the Erratic Boulders? How did they endure the beginning of the Ice Age?

Did these circumstances also involve direct Divine intervention? Do they indeed represent Elements of Providence?

Concerning

The Birth of Christ

For many centuries, the western world has celebrated Christmas on December 25th. Some have wondered how this date was determined. It has been suggested that the early Church adopted the timing of pagan festivals associated with winter solstice, supplanting them with the celebration of the birth of the Light of the World, and it is therefore unlikely that the date we have come to associate with the birth of Christ has any basis in historical reality. This would, however.have been an unwarranted conclusion.

The birth of Christ, according to scripture, would have preceded the death of Herod the Great by a brief period of time involving several weeks. While the time of Herod's death is one of the most recognized dates in ancient history, and hence indicative of the time of Jesus' birth, other lines of evidence including the time of Zachariah's priestly duties, the beginning of Jesus ministry, the dates for the reigns of both Tiberius and Augustus, (Roman rulers of the first century AD) and the eclipse of the Moon mentioned by Josephus, (Jewish historian of the first century AD) all correlate the conclusion that Jesus' birth occurred during the period from late in the fourth year BC to early in the third year BC. (which would also have been the years 4 BC and 3 BC) December 25th is well within this birth window. Since the timing of these events includes portions of both the previous era and the present era, a discussion has been included to explain the 'missing year' from the first decade of the previous era. The ancient lunar eclipse dates for the first few years of the previous era (from NASA website) were very helpful in this regard as they closely identify the time of Herod's death thereby helping to identify the time of Jesus' birth..

Fairy Tales for A Ben Tripp JPEG.jpg

  Too Much Carbon

While our scientists to their credit do some pretty awesome work, they like the rest of us, are subject to peer pressure as well as their own biases. There is certainly no question that, due to the inherent instability of our environment, as well as the heat-retaining characteristic of the Greenhouse gases, the Earth is warming up. In recognition of the disaster that this would cause, our scientists have declared that if we could just limit our carbon emissions so that further temperature increases were restricted to 2 degrees (C), we might avoid disaster - which in this case would be an inhabitable Earth. This, while probably well intentioned, is a false pronouncement.

The Earth has already warmed up and will continue warming up (due to several feedback loops) even if our emissions were cut to zero.

What must be done instead is the removal of the excess CO2 that is already in the atmosphere, Then all of the excess emissions must also be offset by removing them as well. If that was achieved the Earth would remain habitable. Otherwise it will not and within another 200 years will be about as habitable as Mars..
